The recent Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of Vidalia's newest restaurant caused quite a bit of excitement, especially among the area's Mexican food fans. El Ranchero is open for lunch and dinner, right next door to Vidalia Market.
Cajun Specialty Meats & Seafood
Good Cajun sausage, crawfish boudin, and stuffed pork chops - just a sample of the fine products to be found at Cajun Specialty Meats & Seafood, which just celebrated their Ribbon Cutting at their new location on Highway 84.
Afterglow Tanning Salon
Ryan and Krystle Paul recently celebrated the grand opening of their new tanning salon, Afterglow, at 4008 Carter Street. The salon is bursting with new tanning technology with all certified operators.

The Vidalia Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary organization of businesses and professionals who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the economic, civic and cultural well-being of Concordia Parish and the City of Vidalia.

Gov. Jindal to Visit Vidalia
The City of Vidalia will host a Town Hall style meeting with Governor Bobby Jindal Thursday, August 7, 2008, 11:15 a.m. at the Vidalia Conference & Convention Center, 112 Front Street. The public is invited to attend.
September 26 & 27, 2008, The Jim Bowie Festival and Louisiana State BBQ Championship "The Bowie BBQ Duel."
Live music in great variety, arts, crafts, food, and fun highlight our annual Bowie Festival. Once again you'll find all the festivities at RiverView RV Park. The stage is set so you can sit in the shade and listen to the music or dance in the sunshine. Vendor booths will offer lots of toys, gifts, amusements, and food. And don't forget, we'll crown a Louisiana State BBQ Champion, and also award an Amateur Ribs Championship to one of our amateurs.

Frogmore Cotton Plantation
Cotton picking and ginning mid-September through October. Selected by Rand McNally as a "Must See Site," Frogmore lets visitors contrast 1800's methods of harvesting cotton with today's hi-tech process. Frogmore has the only computerized cotton gin in the U.S. 15 minutes west of Vidalia/Natchez on U.S. Hwy 84. 45 minutes east of Pineville, LA - take LA 28 to U.S. 84 East.
Festival Welcomes T. Graham Brown!
Award-winning Country artist T. Graham Brown graces the stage Saturday afternoon at the Jim Bowie Festival, bringing his Blue- eyed Soul sound and his band, The Mighty Rack of Spam.
Chamber Meetings
The Vidalia Chamber meets every 2nd Tuesday of the month at Comfort Suites on the Vidalia RiverFront. Meetings are at Noon. Lunch for members and non-members is $10.
Long Term Acute Care in Vidalia
A 48-bed hospital, treating the "sickest of the sick" is how Lee Huckaby, Chief Executive Officer for Promise Hospitals, described the new facility being built on the Vidalia RiverFront. The hospital would handle acute cases involving respiratory diseases, cardiovascular problems, infections, pneumonia, and chronic, non-healing wounds. On-site diagnostics, and intensive care unit, and private rooms are all part of the design. Huckaby stressed that Promise is working toward building relationships with local short-term care hospitals so that Miss-Lou patients can stay in their community during an illness. Promise will start out with 88 full time employees, and hope to employ 150 or more in the future.
